A famous professor was the author of many books on physics research. The professor was very clever but absent−minded. He often forgot about very simple things. One evening a scientists’ club invited the professor to make a speech for its members. The professor agreed.
On the day of the lecture he left his house for the club in a hurry and he hadn’t taken his key. After the lecture the professor went home and noticed that he did not have his key. And he could not get in. The professor said to himself that he was lucky because his wife was at home. It was a very dark night and when the professor’s wife looked down from the window she couldn’t see who was standing there.
She said that the professor was not at home. Then, she explained that the professor was giving a lecture at the scientists’ club. At that moment the professor was thinking as usual about his lectures and research. He forgot that he was standing in front of his house. Automatically he replied that he was sorry and he would come another time. He turned around and went away.
